NON-PROFIT OF THE YEAR

September 25, 2014 -

Wesley Chapel Friends of Parks & Recreation (WCFOPR) was selected as the “Non-Profit of the Year” at the Sixth Annual Partners for Parks Awards Banquet, which was held at Dressler’s in midtown Charlotte.  The award is given each year to a local non-profit that positively impacts its community by putting passion into action to enhance parks and recreation opportunities for citizens.

Organized in 2012, WCFOPR has actively supported Dogwood Park, Wesley Chapel’s first park, through donations and events to raise awareness of the park and the fellowship it provides for people to work and play alongside each other, ensuring the park continues to thrive as an integral service to the Wesley Chapel area.  To date, WCFOPR has donated eight park benches, a jon boat and water pump for pond maintenance, t-shirts for volunteers at the Grand Opening, and seed money toward the construction of the first dog park in Union County.  WCFOPR has also organized two community events, Park-a-Palooza (Spring 2013) and the Dogwood Park Grand Opening (July 2014), an event co-sponsored by Village of Wesley Chapel.

WCFOPR would like to thank the citizens that have donated countless hours of community service to Dogwood Park and made this award possible!  If you would like more information about WCFOPR, visit our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/WCOPR.  All contributions are tax deductible, and volunteers are always welcome.  WCFOPR is a proud affiliate of Partners for Parks, a nonprofit support group organized to promote parks and recreation in the Metrolina area (www.partnersforparks.org).
